A 24-hour gym could be heading to West Derby Retail Park under new proposals.
Global chain Anytime Fitness has submitted plans to move into an existing three-storey building alongside Aldi and M&S Foodhall at the recently opened development on Queens Drive.
The building the gym is hoping to occupy was originally built to house the Merseyside Society for Deaf People (MSDP), the offices of which were demolished to make way for the new retail park.
However, according to a planning document included in the application, MSDP is “no longer intending to take the allocated space”.
If approved, the West Derby branch would become Liverpool’s first Anytime Fitness gym.
The company currently operates over 3,000 franchised branches in 20 countries across the world including almost 100 in the UK.
Open 24-hours a day, seven-days a week, members can access the gym during unstaffed periods by using their own key which the firm believes benefits shift workers likes nurses and members of the emergency services.
