All new dine-in food market planned for prominent Bold Street building

An all-day dine-in food market could be opening on Liverpool’s Bold Street under new plans.

Manchester-based food, drink and hospitality operator Mission Mars is behind proposals for Zumhof Biergarten – a food market offering a range of artisan food kitchens as well as Bavarian and local beers, coffees and soft drinks alongside live entertainment.

There will also be flowers, pastries and cakes available for sale at the new venue, which would replace the recently closed LIV Organic & Natural Food Market at Radiant House on Bold Street.

According to plans submitted to Liverpool City Council on behalf of Mission Mars, Zumhof Biergarten will present a “new take on the indoor food market sector which is growing across the UK”.

The venue will incorporate four food spaces, two bars and a coffee hub, with three of the kitchens let out to independent food retailers.

A document included with the planning application states that Mission Mars, which launched ‘bier tavern & cook haus’ Alberts Schenke on Liverpool’s Hanover Street last summer, will make a initial £300,000 investment in Zumhof Biergarten and hopes to open by October 2020.
