A new gym is heading to North Liverpool’s Great Homer Street as part of the ‘Project Jennifer’ regeneration scheme.
The Gym Group will join retailers including B&M and Home Bargains, which have already committed to opening stores at the site.
Founded in 2008 by former England squash player John Treharne, the fitness chain currently has 91 facilities across the UK.
The Liverpool branch will form part of the new district centre which is currently being developed by St. Modwen in partnership with Liverpool City Council.
Once open, the Gym Group will be open 24/7 featuring 170 pieces of equipment, and members will also be able to access exercise classes.
The facility will also include showers, changing rooms, vending machines and parking.
Jonathan Spaven, property director of the Gym Group, says: “The development of the District Centre is helping to revitalise North Liverpool and this site, which has excellent transport links and high footfall retail and leisure facilities in the immediate locality, provides the perfect location for us.”
According to St. Modwen, ‘Project Jennifer’ is on track to be completed this summer.
The scheme, which will also incorporate a new Sainsbury’s supermarket and space for other retailers, will create 1,000 new jobs and deliver £150 million of investment.
