North West’s £100 million rental sector development gets underway in Norris Green

The launch of a new private rental sector (PRS) scheme in Norris Green has signalled the start of £100 million of rental properties being developed across the North West.

Regeneration specialist Sigma Capital and its PRS venture partner, Gatehouse Bank PLC, were joined by special guests at the site to celebrate the start of an initial phase of 927 homes across the region getting underway.

Cabinet member for housing, Councillor Ann O’Byrne was among those who attended, along with fellow Liverpool City Council members, housebuilder Countryside and Direct Lettings, which will market the new homes as they become the PRS element of the already successful NGV (Norris Green Village) Liverpool scheme.

New PRS brand ‘Difrent’, which was also launched at the event, is set to provide features including quality interiors and appliances and an on-site maintenance operator which will look after the properties for years to come.

Cllr O’Byrne, who launched Norris Green’s new PRS element, says: ““A huge transformation has taken place at Norris Green over the last three years and the new PRS offering means that people now have the option to rent as well as buy at this fantastic development. Not only does this represent a great addition to the scheme but it is also great news for the city in terms of inward investment.”

Paul Staley, director at Direct Lettings, adds: “We have already had a great deal of interest in the PRS homes at Norris Green and we have a number of residents ready to move in.”
