Public consultation announced for Great Homer Street Sainsbury’s

Local residents will have their say on Sainsbury’s plans for a new foodstore, petrol station and shops at its Great Homer Street site later this week.

The plans will be on display from 4 December at the St Modwen marketing suite, on site, at the corner of Chapel Gardens and Great Homer Street.

Sainsbury’s will be submitting a planning application shortly for the proposals, which form part of the ambitious Project Jennifer masterplan to develop a new district centre at Great Homer Street.

Jo Hawley at Sainsbury’s, says: “The opportunity to create a new Sainsbury’s foodstore is an exciting one for Sainsbury’s and the local community. This store will bring more shopping choice to the city while creating up to 220 jobs for local people.

“As part of our plans we would like to know what the community thinks and will be holding a public event so people can meet our project team and ask any questions they may have.”

Plans have been previously approved as part of Project Jennifer for a Sainsbury’s store and site clearance works have been carried out.
