Brazilian-style parade coming to Liverpool ONE

A Brazilian-style parade will pass through Liverpool ONE on Friday (26 August) to mark the beginning of the bank holiday weekend.

The carnival will also precede the I Am Team GB event, the UK’s biggest ever sports day held to celebrate Great Britain’s medal achievements at the 2016 Olympics.

Parades will commence at 12pm and 4pm, with the first beginning at Paradise Street and continuing to Paradise Place, South John Street and Wall Street, before returning to its starting point.

The second will finish at South John Street where red, white and blue confetti will rain down to mark its conclusion.

Brazilian-themed entertainment, including Samba dancing and freestyle football demonstrations, will take place in between.

Donna Howitt, marketing director at Liverpool ONE, says: “We are delighted to be staging this fantastic parade to celebrate the success of our amazing athletes in Rio.

“There will be something for every single member of the family to enjoy and the streets of Liverpool will certainly be a fun place to be with lots of great live entertainment.”

The parades and entertainment will run alongside a range of sporting activities at Chavasse Park, which has been transformed into a miniature Olympic village until 4 September.
