A new deli and bakery on Dale Street has thanked customers after a successful first day of trade, after opening its doors this week.

Delkery on Dale Street opened on Monday 23 March and owner Tariq Batayneh says interest has been high for the new eatery. He says: “We opened yesterday for our first day and we’ve had people popping in and having a chat. The reaction has been good.”

Delkery is Tariq’s first Liverpool business and he says he was attracted to Dale Street because of good footfall in the area and what he saw was a gap in the market

“The area is a bit short of places to eat on this side of town,” he says. “There are takeaways but not many places where you can go in to eat. We’re open between 8am and 7pm on weekdays and we want to cater for people throughout the day”

The new venue offers a wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, including the ability to make your own from a variety of choices on the menu, ranging from how eggs are cooked for the breakfasts to what type of toppings customers want on their burgers or sandwiches. The eatery also serves Phom loose leaf tea alongside coffees and other drinks.

Based at Westminster Chambers, Delkery will soon have a new neighbour; local craft ale bar The Dead Crafty Brewery, which has submitted an application
