A new version of gothic horror classic, Dracula, will make its debut at the Lantern Theatre in Liverpool on 19 – 21 March.
Liverpool Network Theatre’s Faye Christiansen has adapted Bram Stoker’s original vampire masterpiece for the independent theatre on Blundell Street, with tickets on sale now priced at £8 (£6 for concessions).
Director Elaine Stewart quotes “I am an avid fan of the horror genre, especially gothic horror, so I jumped at the opportunity to direct Dracula. I have always been intrigued by the themes in the novel of science vs. superstition and female sexual expression, and I want the audience to experience a visually striking gothic horror with a sexy/sensual edge to it. I have really enjoyed working with such a talented cast and production team.”
Dracula is set in 1897 and tells the story of Jonathan Harker as he visits Transylvania, where he discovers Count Dracula and his horrifying secret. James Dorman plays Dracula in the new adaptation, while Lydia Parsons plays Lucy Westenra.
