Liverpool City Council will hold a review of student accommodation in Liverpool, by hosting three evidence-gathering sessions in July.
A review group made up of councilors and representatives from the student, university and developer communities will hear from a range of people on 14, 15 and 16 July to discuss the suitability and viability of student accommodation in the city centre
Student accommodation in Liverpool has proved to be a controversial topic in Liverpool in recent years, with a growth in new developments aimed at students seeking planning approval.
The review will establish the council’s future policy on student accommodation in Liverpool city centre, to cater for the estimated 70,000 students studying in the area.
Councillor Frank Hont, cabinet member for housing, says: “Ensuring a supply of high quality, appropriately located homes is a priority for the City Council.
“Students make a significant contribution to our communities and this review will ensure that the Council is able to meet the needs of all interested stakeholders.”
The meetings will be held at Liverpool Town Hall and the final report and recommendations will be finalised over the summer and considered by the Cabinet. Those who want to present information should email development&housing@liverpool.gov.uk.
