Pianos will be placed across Liverpool ONE from today, as pianist Isaac Waddington launches Tickle the Ivories.
The singer/songwriter, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, will perform in Liverpool ONE from 12 noon today (1 July), as pianos return to the shopping complex for a fifth year.
Tickle the Ivories will run until 6 September and allows musicians, choirs, singers and bands the chance to perform at one of the open-air piano spots throughout Liverpool ONE.
Several of the pianos, including those on South John Street and Peter’s Square, will be offered free to play, while others will host performances from the region’s top performers.
These include Musicality Wirral on 4 July at 11am – 1pm and Nordic singer Kaya at 4-5pm on the same day. On 4 July, performances will also take place on College Lane, where choir Cantemis at Caldy will showcase American-themed songs in honour of the Cunard 175 celebrations, while John Prince will perform pop music hits from 4-5pm.
Cantemis at Caldy will also perform at Sugar House Steps at 1-2pm, by John Lewis, in honour of the celebrations taking place across the city for One Magnificent City.
Locations include Lower South John Street, Paradise Street, College Lane, Sugar House Steps, Peter’s Square and The Galleria and performers can book a slot on the pianos by visiting the Open Culture website or contact Open Culture on 0151 478 4550.

I saw a kid no older than 16 sat down next to my kid, also self taught by ear only, just like the guy who hit the internet last year. His name was Micheal and he even asked me permission to show my 4yr old son basic keys. Then he played some serious tunes. A city full of talent, I was so moved emotionally at, one the way how he showed my son and second how talented he was and people just walkwd past. I was that taken back I forgot to video it and I wish I had. If anybody can find me this young man before the panios go in would be most greatfull.
