Plans for The Alchemist to open in Liverpool

The team behind Liverpool’s Red Door, Gusto and Smugglers Cove is planning to open a new restaurant and bar.

Living Ventures has submitted plans and licensing applications to transform the Grade-II listed Heywood Building on Brunswick Street into The Alchemist, a popular bar and restaurant chain with venues in London, Manchester and Newcastle.

This is not the first time a restaurant has taken up residence in the Heywood Building; it has previously housed The Noble House and Bank Bar and Brasserie. The building is also the site of boutique Heywood House Hotel.

If plans are finalised, The Alchemist looks set to join the commercial district’s luxury dining scene and will serve brunch, lunch and dinner. Its extensive menu brings together dishes with English, American, Mediterranean and even Asian influences.

Renowned for its innovative cocktails created by its staff of mixologists, The Alchemist uses unexpected mediums to create its drinks, including bars fitted with Bunsen burners.
