Student homes redevelopment underway to meet demands in the city

Student housing provider, Accommod8 is rolling out a redevelopment programme across its period properties in the city, to meet the demands of the current market.

The firm is “investing significantly” in bringing its properties up to new home standard as it responds to the surge in student developments around Liverpool.

Works being carried out include the installation of new wall and roof insulation and the remodelling of interiors to add additional bedrooms, bathrooms and more open living spaces, as the company aims to provide the same high specification as new accommodation within houses.

John Blythe, director of Accommod8, says: “I believe the demand for high quality shared houses on streets will not significantly reduce but our response to the increasing number and quality of new developments in the city centre is to roll out a redevelopment programme to bring our student property portfolio up to a standard comparable with the brand new accommodation; or at least as far as you can in 100-year-old terraced properties.”
