A new Vietnamese street food restaurant could be about to join the ever growing list of eateries on Liverpool’s Bold Street.

‘Pho’, which has branches across the UK including in London and Manchester, plans to open at 79 Bold Street – a Grade II-listed building currently home to Chinese and Korean restaurant Seoul Love.

A planning application submitted to Liverpool City Council on behalf of Pho by real estate advisor CBRE, includes alterations to the exterior and interior of the building which the agent says are “sympathetic to the listed status of the building and seek to make the shopfront consistent with 75 and 77 Bold Street”.

According to its website, the restaurant chain is named after Vietnam’s national dish, a nutritious noodle soup, and serves a range of authentic Vietnamese dishes including ‘Pho xao’, ‘bun noodles’ and ‘com tam’, alongside coffees, beers, cocktails and fresh juices.

‘Pho’, not to be confused with ‘My Pho’ on nearby Ranelagh Street, is the brainchild of Stephen and Juliette Wall who opened London’s first Vietnamese street food restaurant in 2005 after they travelled to Vietnam and fell in love with the food.
